Offline Wallet
Since I started to hold some Bitcoins and saw all the DDOS attacks on the network, I decided to investigate what can I do to secure my wallet.
There is no easy setup right now, but there is an easy workaround…
First: I use Armory desktop client (yes DESKTOP!!).
The basic idea is to have one online and primary wallet who is connected to the internet and also have a “watching only wallet” that is a read only wallet who can create transactions but don’t sign them. So the only way to sign a transaction and propagate it to the network is moving the transaction to an USB drive and sign it on the offline wallet. Then your transaction is ready to be propagated to the network with out compromising your private key.
If you want to see a step by step to do it, here is a good example using armory.
